A brief History

Eagerness to experiment and catchiness – for the Argentine singer/songwriter Javier Di Ciriaco this was never a contradiction.
Thus he has stood at the crossroads of different musical genres for more than three decades. His songs and arrangements blend and interfuse poetic folk ballads, romantic tangos, soothing pop and powerful rock tunes. His first solo release ÍNTIMO is dedicated to the more romantic ballads of his repertoire.
"It is difficult to write about music because I think it should speak for itself. Being born and raised in Argentina I cannot (and do not want to) escape the feel and syncopation of Latin American music. However, having had a rock band and touring intensely all over the world other musical styles have also become a major source of inspiration to me. I got to enjoy very different artists such Carlos Gardel, Sade, Sandro, Sting, many singers of the old Tango Orchestras, Mercedes Sosa..., to only to name a few.
When I started working on my first solo album I knew it should allow me to reflect my different sources of inspiration presenting a diverse repertoire and showing different facets of my voice. And I wanted to tell stories every listener can relate to because they are part of our journey through life: in a very pure and reduced way, just my voice, piano and sometimes accentuated by my guitar.
From there everything felt slowly into place...just like a puzzle eventually forming a picture."
Javier Di Ciriaco
Javier Di Ciriaco was born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1973. His paternal Italian roots and his parents’ love for tango marked his childhood.
As a teenager he could not relate to this genre, rocked his parent's house with his heavy metal music, founded the successful rock band Sentencia and acted as its leadsinger, guitarist and composer. However, in his early twenties Tango also found him. So he decided to leave his band, performed with the famous “Orquesta Típica de Jorge Arduh”, in various theatre and musical productions and intensely toured Europe and Asia. In 2006, he then founded his own orchestra, Sexteto Milonguero, which he turned into one of the most successful live orchestras of the Argentine and international tango scene over the last decade. The orchestra has toured internationally since 2007: regularly visiting Europe and performing among other countries in Russia, Singapore, Shanghai, Latin America, the United States and Canada.
Having felt the urge to create time and space for his own compositions for quite some time, in 2016, Javier Di Ciriaco presented his first solo programme as singer/songwriter showing new and different facets of his diverse repertoire and multifaceted voice. The standing ovations he received in the few choice concerts prompted the artist to directly begin production on his first solo album ÍNTIMO, released in 2017.
With every word, with every note, with every tune
I approach myself… my roots and my future.

"Two songs were written by Javier Di Ciriaco and these underline that he is not only an impressive interpret of other composers ́ songs, but also a great songwriter (listen to the rocking final song 'Miradas Perdidas')."
